Quote

Eleven years ago a horrific fire took Alice’s family from her and left her terribly burned—and her mind terribly scarred. Afterwards she was confined to Rutledge Asylum, struggling to come to terms with her demons by slipping into her fantasy world of Wonderland. Now, after ten years, she has finally secured her release--yet she still bears the heavy psychological burden of that tragic event.

In Alice: Madness Returns, Alice is released from the asylum to a London psychiatrist’s care. As nightmarish hallucinations continue to haunt her and invade her reality, she seeks to understand her torment in order to recover herself. Her mind in tatters, she is unable to resolve the fear and neuroses prompted by her strange memories, dreams, and visions. Her relocation to London seems only to add to their number and intensity.

Perhaps she’ll do better in Wonderland. She always has. She travels there, seeking what the “real” world can’t provide: security, knowledge, and the truth about the past. But in her absence, Wonderland too has suffered. Something has gone horribly wrong, and now a great evil is descending upon what once was her beautiful refuge.

Everyone's cashing in on Alice in Wonderland, EA's a little later than everyone else, but a sequel to American McGee's Alice is great news anyway.

Does seem a bit late on EA's part, but it looks interesting.  I never did play the first game, but i can imagine what it's like.

First game was awesome, I never could get past the river of tears level though. I'll have to get a mac version and play through again.

A puzzle kept you from going forward, or was it a boss?

I can't remember, I think I kept drowning in the river.

The river seems appropriately named.

It will be available for Mac! Amazon has it available for pre-order, they have 12-31-11 for the release date, but that has to be wrong.

Hmm, Wikipedia says quarter 4 of 2011, there isn't really a solid date yet.  Wonder how the console versions will turn out.

Oops, think you meant 6.15.2011, which is about what my favorite game site is saying.  There's a new gameplay trailer:

The console versions will include a code to download the original game.  If it's a used copy, it'll be $10 for the code, which is getting to be a standard practice for secondhand games.  I read that there's a similar procedure for playing online with a used copy of the new Mortal Kombat.  I tend to prefer Japanese fighting games, personally.

I hope the PC version gets the same code. Prices for a second hand copy are outrageous and I've lost mine.

Haven't heard about a PC re-release, but they really should have one, considering how long it's been.

Has the mac release been cancelled? Amazon is no longer it under mac games, and the cover art doesn't mention mac any more.

It's hard to say, other people are wondering about the Mac version and I've yet to find official information about a change of platform plans.  It may still be part of the PC version.
